Backpacks for Laptops?

To buy a laptop case or a laptop backpack – that is the question. There are several factors to take into consideration and here is an outline of the advantages of each item:

The Laptop Case

  • If you are in business a case would look much smarter and more professional
  • It is small and compact and designed to fit your essential laptop accessoriesIt is very useful when travelling especially by plane
  • It is generally easier to access your laptop and set it up
  • Being a smaller item it can be hidden or obscured if there is a security issue
  • Some cases come with extra compartments so that it can double as a smart briefcase

The Laptop Backpack

  • While a laptop can seem light when you first pick it up, it can start to feel quite heavy after a while and a backpack would alleviate that load
  • It is generally larger and so you would be able to include books and other items in the pack
  • When travelling, a backpack would leave both hands free for other items of luggage
  • When walking long distances a backpack will lessen potential back problems which may occur through the weight of the laptop. These problems can be exacerbated if the laptop is carried by way of a shoulder strap
  • The backpack can be tried on for comfort before purchase although it is a good idea to put a laptop in so that you can feel the weight and any pressure points
  • There are several styles of backpack so you should be able to find one that is comfortable for you
  • Laptop backpacks are now becoming more sophisticated with features like water-resistant outer fabric and plenty of pockets for the small accessories.

So whether you buy a backpack or case depends on which best suits your personal circumstances which, of course, may change over time.
